A trader has lost N300million cash in the inferno that destroyed Kano's Sabon Gari market, overnight on Saturday. Traders and shop owners at the burnt Sabon Gari market in Kano estimated losses at over N2 trillion, in goods and cash. Uwaisu Ali Baba, who sells shoes, said his three shops had been burnt. He said: "Blocks A, B, C, D, L were burnt and goods worth billions of naira destroyed." He said approximately over 18,000 traders were affected by the disaster. "Concerning the estimate of cash lost, I cannot do that because many people have lost cash. I know somebody who lost over N300m," he stated. Another victim, Isma'ila Sani, said he lost over N15m. "I was not able to remove even a pair of shoes," adding, "my brothers also lost about N7m in the disaster. 'We have left everything to God. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has deducted three points from Nigeria, Egypt and Tanzania, all members of Group G, following the withdrawal of Chad from the ongoing qualification race for the 31st edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, Gabon 2017. Chad were due to travel to Tanzania for the fourth match in the group, but instead made the announcement of a shocking withdrawal, citing financial constraints. CAF swiftly applied its rules in conformity with Article 61 of the regulations of the competition which states: "If a team withdraws from the qualifying phase organised in groups, all its results shall be annulled (points, scored and conceded goals)". "Consequently, the three matches of Chad of Group G are cancelled and the results will not be taken into consideration", CAF said. Taraba state government has returned over one hundred Cattle that were stolen by unidentified gunmen to the original owners at Seseni village in Bali local government area of Taraba state. The one hundred and nineteen cattle were reported to have been stolen at gun point at Senseni village two weeks ago while the shepherd, Muhamed Yahaya was also reportedly killed by the cattle rustlers in the process. According to an eyewitness, who spoke to Vanguard, the cattle rustlers were carrying sophisticated arms. "They were carrying heavy arms, they were also hostile in their approaches, we the passers-by have to run for our lives because of the way the cattle rustlers were behaving," he told Vanguard but did not give his name due to security reasons.
